PREPARING FOR CHURCH
Integrating into the body of Christ

This A4 size booklet consists of Bible-based worksheets to help young people ‘make the transition from Sunday School to church’. The 12 lessons are in black and white so that they can be photocopied. However, a computer CD is included with PDF files ready to print in colour.
The sheets are visually appealing for young people with a broad side panel and questions with plenty of space for answers. However, there is no teachers’ guide with the worksheets, and so teachers will need to study the worksheets to develop their own teaching points. This weakens their usefulness for busy Sunday School teachers.
Topics covered include: the church as the people of God, worship meetings on a Sunday, baptism by immersion, communion, assurance of salvation and personal holiness.
One session consists in putting the church’s Basis of Faith into their own words using the FIEC’s nine statements as a structure, a great idea, but a lot to cover in one session. The next session is just one sheet with eight statements of what a church should be doing, but unusually there are no Bible references given. The following section is five sheets covering leadership within the church, with an extended look at the qualifications for eldership. The two sections on benefiting from the sermon are excellent and are full of encouraging and helpful advice for those about to make the transition from Sunday School to church.
