This book aims to help Christians see that God has purposes for our lives which go beyond evangelism.
To make this point the author speaks of two Great Commissions. In the first part of the book, Julian Hardyman sets out an overview of the Bible’s message with a focus on this theme. In the second part, he applies this to various areas of our lives, such as work, citizenship and calling. I would particularly recommend the chapters on a Christian worldview and the arts.
Glory Days is well written with plenty of lively illustration. Most of the 15 chapters can be read and thought about within half an hour, making this an easy introduction to the issues involved. There are Bible passages to read and questions to consider at the end of each chapter. Of course, in such a concise work there is plenty that has to be left unsaid, but this is a great book for any Christian who finds its difficult to relate aspects of their lives to their Christian faith. For a generation that may not know the blessing of the Schaeffers’ ministry this will be a way of finding that treasure.
