Though written by a Puritan pastor over 300 years ago, it is bang up to date in addressing all the questions and objections which tend to the neglect of our quiet times. There are 20 arguments on why private prayer is necessary. They are powerful arguments, which truly nail the reader! Six objections — like ‘I’m too busy’ — are thoroughly skewered. Brooks then proceeds to give 11 pieces of practical advice on how to pray.
