FINDING JOY
A radical rediscovery of grace

Where can we find joy? Marcus Honeysett clearly shows that the answer lies with how much we really believe and live out the liberating and life-transforming gift of God’s grace.
This book is grounded in Scripture and can’t fail to encourage any believer who reads it. The nine chapters are divided into two sections.
Part 1 deals with ‘Finding joy through grace’. The law has its own place in Scripture, but it’s through Christ alone, and not the law, that all the blessings of God are made available for believers. Paul’s letter to the Galatians shows up the legalistic mindset that had crept in through a false ‘gospel’ based on works, and the author reminds us how easily we too can slip into legalism. Faithfulness to God can become mere duty, Christian experience can add up to no more than Christian activity, and love for the Lord can be measured more by the reaction of others.
Part 2 deals with ‘Finding joy in radical Christian living’ as the ‘rejoicings’ of Paul in Philippians are explored. Seeing what causes joy and how it’s worked out practically encourages the reader to prioritise the most important things in life, and work these out among the body of Christ.
Each chapter concludes with questions aimed at helping the reader apply God’s Word in practical ways to their own life, making the book appropriate for studying one-to-one or in small groups. Warmly commended.
