Jesus & The Da Vinci Code
JESUS & THE DA VINCI CODE
DVD & Study Guide
Focus Radio (http://www. focus.org.uk)
Many people who will be interested by the film of The Da Vinci Code may not be keen readers. So a lot of the excellent published material answering the errors of Dan Brown will not be very accessible to them.
Focus Radio has produced an excellent little DVD which will appeal to those hooked on viewing. It has short presentations on the claims of Brown and the people and places mentioned in the novel. Dr. Stephen Dray is on camera answering questions in a lucid and careful way. The viewer can flick through the DVD according to his or her personal choice or they can be led by a study guide booklet which goes with it.
This looks at four areas: was Jesus ‘made divine’ by the vote at Nicea; when did Christians first believe that Jesus was the Son of God; what about the gnostic gospels; and what about Mary Magdalene and the Sacred Feminine? Each study has an introductory piece from The Da Vinci Code and follows through with a good mix of Bible references and quotes from other historical sources to make a helpful discussion.
