OUT OF CONTROL
Keswick Ministries (ed. Ali Hull)
Authentic. 220 pages

Out of Control was the theme of the Keswick Convention 2004. This book includes Bible readings from Habakkuk, the lectures and a selection of evening addresses from the convention.
It is well edited and very readable. The five readings on Habakkuk are especially timely after the tsunami. In these Jonathan Lamb addresses the questions that disasters raise. He also gives excellent advice on how to live lives of quiet trust in this crazy world. He combines a high view of God’s sovereignty with a good understanding of 21st-century thinking.
The lectures cover the Welsh Revival, mission and certainty in an uncertain world. The last by Michael Ramsden, an evangelist for Ravi Zacharias Ministries, is demanding, but wonderfully helpful for anyone engaging with non-believers.
The addresses from Matthew’s Gospel are practical and motivating. The speakers include Anne Graham Lotz, Steve Brady and Peter Maiden.
To read of 4,000 Algerian Muslims coming to faith is terrifically exciting (you’ll have to read the book to find out more!) .
I cannot recommend this book too highly. It will encourage, stimulate, challenge and educate.
