After a brief introduction this book tells of eight people who listened to God and obeyed. Geoffrey Grogan, former Principal of Glasgow Bible College, then gives a summary of some principles of guidance, drawing examples from Scripture and from the experiences of those in the book.
We all learn a great deal from the lives of other Christians. How many missionaries must there be who have been greatly influenced by reading missionary biographies? We all also want to know more about guidance. So bringing the two things together in one book is certainly a winning combination!
Of course, some of the stories shared seem more interesting than others but overall the approach is a helpful one. None of those involved is particularly well-known and being, therefore, relatively 'ordinary' Christians adds to the value of the book. All will find people and experiences with which they can readily identify. The final summary is biblically-based and helpfully written, but it is hard to obey the editor's warning in the introduction not to look at the conclusions first!
