A Prayer Journey with the Apostle Paul written by Michael Green takes the reader to the heart of Paul's relationship with God.
The book is divided into six parts with each part containing ten daily readings from the Book of Acts and from the apostolic letters of the Bible, known as the Epistles. Though Paul was undoubtedly a man of action, he was also given to intimate, passionate prayer. For Paul, prayer and action went hand in hand. This book lets the reader overhear the apostle in communion with God.
From Paul's relationship with God Michael Green aims to give the reader insights to shape his or her own approach to prayer. I found the narrow focus of the book very helpful.
It underlines how prayer was central to Paul's relationship with God and shows what Paul considered worth praying for: his concern for his friends was not for their physical and emotional needs but for their spiritual growth and Christlikeness.
I found being able to follow the example of Paul's prayer life very moving. It also helped me to re-evaluate what my priorities in prayer should be.
