This book is the moving and powerful story of Mark's life as an abused child and his painful experiences in later life when, as a believer, he deals with the aftermath of his childhood. Abandoned by his parents, he spent his early days in foster homes and eventually a children's home. During his teenage years Mark struggled with rebellion and desires to end his life.
Even as an adult the pain still haunts him: 'It was the same story repeating itself. People I loved were always being taken from me, or I was taken from them.'
Often unable to trust others Mark eventually puts his faith in Christ alone to save him. Supported by a godly wife and a dear elderly pastor, Mark faces all the trauma of his past, forgives and lets go of the pain.
Having met those in similar situations to Mark, I found his story to be compelling, the voice of the little boy is clearly heard as he cries out for someone to help him. This book should prove invaluable in understanding such hurting and vulnerable folk in our world and fellowships in particular.
