A Christian's evangelistic pocket guide to Islam

Very helpful

A CHRISTIAN'S EVANGELISTIC POCKET GUIDE TO ISLAM
By Malcolm Steer
Christian Focus/FFM. 80 pages. £1.99
ISBN 1 85792 915 2

This is a very helpful little introduction to Islam and witnessing to Muslims. In fewer than 80 pages it gives an overview of Islam's history and teaching, explains the main Muslim misunderstandings about (and objections to) Christian doctrine and gives some helpful instruction on how to overcome these difficulties.

It is an easy read and surprisingly full of useful material and sage advice.

One of its chief virtues is that it conveys the conviction that it is possible to be an effective witness to Muslims without being an expert on Islam. Indeed, it not only supplies enough information and advice to get you started, but also provides a simple approach that can, by God's grace, reap a harvest. And its '10 commandments for witnessing to Muslims' provides a concise summary of witnessing wisdom that is of much wider application still.

The book is so cheap that this reviewer recommends that every British Christian should buy it (and read it!). Realistically this means that those who are interested read it, and then buy copies for others in their church, and arrange a meeting to read it and discuss its implications together, including a practical plan to reach out to local Muslims. The good that could be achieved in prayerful dependence on the Lord is incalculable!
