The Marriage CourseAn introductory videoA taste of matrimonyTHE MARRIAGE COURSE Marriage is going through a hard time in our society. According to this video more than 40% of marriages end in divorce at a time when the number of people getting married is at an all-time low. So, with the aim of prevention being better than cure, Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) have, since 1996, been running a course to help people improve their married lives. The video explains the aims, format and content of the course and introduces Nicky and Sila Lee, the couple who wrote it. The full course consists of a series of seven sessions and is suitable for people who have been married for a long or short period of time; for those who are happily married and for those who are going through a tough time; for Christians and for those who have other religious beliefs or none. The course can be used with one couple or several. The seven sessions cover the following topics: Building strong foundations, The art of communication, Resolving conflict, The power of forgiveness, Parents and In-laws, Good sex, Love in action. Each session lasts for about two hours. Along with the talk, each couple is given an exercise to work through. This component has proved to be very helpful because it encourages the couple to talk through particular issues. This video resource gives churches the opportunity to provide such a course in their locality.
