OT evangelism

BEGINNING AT THE BEGINNING
By Graham Harrison
Bryntirion Press. 151 pages. £4.99
ISBN 1 85049 154 2

Taking key themes from Genesis 1-12, Graham Harrison shows how important the first book of the Bible is for all that follows (these were originally sermons). He shows how relevant Genesis is to all that is happening around us.
The reader is reminded that Genesis is not myth or fiction. This is vital today when so many, even in evangelical circles, are undermining this early section of God's Word. We are clearly shown that the theory of evolution actually explains nothing at all; we need to make this plain in our evangelism. Man is not getting better; the only hope for lost mankind is the One who came to redeem us from the effects of the Fall.
There are two great benefits. Firstly, the reader is taken to Christ all the time. Yes, to the One who himself often went back to Genesis. Secondly, this book is a superb insight into how to preach evangelistically from the Old Testament. That, on its own, is worth the purchase price.
One thought, however, Mr. Harrison has written in a most contemporary way - it seems strange, therefore, that the sometimes lengthy Scripture quotes should be in the archaic language of the Authorised Version. That said, it is highly recommended.
