The moment I saw the cover and title of this book, it grabbed me!
If you’re looking for a book that’s easy to read, that will encourage, challenge and, yes, dare I say it, entertain you — look no further! However, be prepared to change, because this book certainly isn’t lightweight in content. The challenges of each chapter are firmly grounded in biblical truth, with contemporary illustrations, accessible for any reader. The 17 brief chapters each conclude with a relevant Bible passage and thought-provoking questions.
In this reworking of his original book, Glory days, Julian Hardyman has included two brand new chapters. One concerns our responsibility to the environment. The second is a message from the heart about glorifying God through dark days. Written in two parts, the reader is firstly taken on a ‘tour of the Bible’, showing that God is passionate about every part of our lives, and his glory is seen throughout his story. As Part Two unpacks two great commissions, alongside two great commandments, we’re reminded how easily we fall into the trap of dividing our lives into the ‘secular’ and the ‘sacred’, thinking God is more interested in the latter.
The writer shows how God’s word helps us to see everything as ‘sacred’, challenging us to live every area of our lives to God’s glory. This book could be especially helpful to younger readers who are on the threshold of major decision-making, but I warmly commend it to anyone serious about wanting to make each day ‘a glory day’!
