The Third Degree

UCCF: serving the church

UCCF’s mission is to the university. We exist to proclaim the message of Jesus in the student world and see young people becoming his disciples.

To that end, we produce an array of resources to equip Christian students for their mission — tooling them up for the work of mission. A happy by-product of this is that many of our resources can be put to good use in the local church as well: in youth groups, for training, for church-based student work.

Freshers

We have set up a campaign to recruit freshers to our Christian Unions. Here, they will not only be welcomed to the university, surrounded by friendly faces, and guided to a church, but they will also become part of a vibrant mission team whose aim is to bring the gospel to their campus. In service of this campaign is our Student Handbook / Cookbook, which is designed to feed freshers both physically and spiritually. Alongside quick and easy recipes, there is advice on university life, finding a church, and relationships. www.uccf.org. uk/freshers

Bethinking.org

Bethinking is well established as UCCF’s apologetics website. It is dedicated to providing resources which will help both students and the church respond effectively to contemporary (and older) challenges to the Christian faith. Bethinking brings together some of the best apologetics resources, both articles and MP3s, to help its users ‘give a reason for the hope within’. Alongside all of this, book, film, and music reviews are regularly added, demonstrating ways in which Christians can engage with friends and colleagues over the culture we share. http://www.bethinking.org

TheologyNetwork.org

Theology Network is Bethinking’s younger cousin, and the focus (unsurprisingly) is on theology. From Biblical Studies to World Religions, studying theology at university to church history, there’s plenty to keep you stimulated and informed. Beyond simply learning new information, though, Theology Network is dedicated to deep heart change, encounters with the Living God that cause love for Jesus to explode, and faith in him to grow. http://www.theologynetwork.org

PURE

PURE is one of our older resources: a book and a course which explores God’s design for sex and relationships. It has been widely used and appreciated by students, and we have found increasingly that it is being used by churches and youth groups. http://www.uccf.org.uk/media/pure.htm

We hope that all these resources continue to be used by students, aiding them in the mission of their CUs. But we also hope and pray that these resources will continue to be well used by church, that the people of God may be blessed and built up by them. If you would like any more information on them, or how to use them, please contact Pod Bhogal on pb@uccf.org.uk
