I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK
By Corrie Ten Boom
Zondervan. 192 pages. £7.49
ISBN 978-0-310-27154-3
This is the first publication containing transcripts of 40 devotions that Corrie Ten Boom gave between1966 and the early 70s for Trans World Radio.
The best thing for me about this book was the further insight into this godly and inspiring woman. You can almost see this little lady sitting there in the studio and hear her persuading the listener in her winsome way to trust the God who has proved so faithful to her through her long and eventful life. In some ways it might be deemed a little quaint, but she still manages to connect with her listeners (and readers) through her direct approach and love for others.
She includes many personal experiences in which to illustrate the messages and yet remains characteristically unassuming. Christ is always at the centre and I love the way she so clearly and simply explains the gospel. This is a good book to read daily rather than in one sitting and is suitable for someone new to the faith.
