Out of these shocking and searing experiences she has written this book as a recovery manual for women in similar situations. This book is much more and much better than a winning-through story. Meg fearlessly brings the searchlight of Scripture not only to the situation and the guilty party but to the innocent one as well. She knows only too well the various pitfalls, from wallowing in victimhood to blind vengeful fury. She knows there are no easy answers, nor is there a guarantee of a happy families ending. What there is is biblical hope, built on truth and grace. Both are commended in equal measure as the only way forward, hard as the road may be. The book helpfully charts the journeys of three different women, from first heart-stopping discovery through the gamut of emotions, the disappointment of setbacks to a realistic prospect of stability and peace. Each chapter ends with a pithy and memorable summary of the chapter’s teaching points, a series of pertinent and encouraging Scripture quotations and a journaling task.
