 PrintableVersion Revelation - the triumph of ChristApocalypse nowREVELATION Reactions to the Book of Revelation vary. Some avoid it, finding it far too complicated. Some have a strange fascination with it, and make it very complicated. This excellent book comes as an encouragement and corrective to all, guiding us clearly through this thrilling part of the Bible. It is part of the ‘John Stott Bible Studies’ series and, as we have come to expect, it is a careful, concise, helpful aid to understanding Scripture. In the introduction John Stott gives four principles for understanding Revelation. He briefly shows that the best way to approach it is to see it as a series of parallel sections, with each taking us through the period between the first and second coming of Christ, helping us to understand the world in which we live now. He reminds us that Revelation is a celebration of the victory that Christ has already won, encouraging his people to remain faithful to him, come what may! Above all, it is a revelation of the glory of Christ, who died, rose, reigns and is coming again in power and glory! There are 12 studies which are suitable for individuals or groups. I used them in my daily Bible readings, finding it encouraging and challenging. Each chapter contains a short introduction, about ten questions on the selected passage, summaries of what each section is about, clear application and suggestions for prayer. It is inevitable that some will differ with some aspects of the interpretation, or wish the summaries said more, but, given the size of the book, I found it astonishing just how clear and helpful it is.
