£10.00 plus p&p
This resource consists of a six-minute presentation aimed at church congregations and visitors. It outlines the measures taken by churches with a responsible attitude to child safeguarding. Also included on the DVD are a selection of printable posters that can be displayed where meetings and children’s activities take place to reassure parents that safeguarding is taken seriously.
The main benefit of this presentation is as a checklist for churches. It could only be played publicly in a church that is taking all the precautions outlined on the DVD, including having an up-to-date child protection policy, undertaking CRB checks on all children’s activity helpers and having a named Child Protection Officer. It may be of use for open days / parents’ evenings as a means of reassuring parents that their children are cared for in a safe environment.
The posters are eye-catching and similarly would provide reassurance for parents, as well as being a visual reminder for anyone on the premises that there is a child protection policy in place.
This is a reasonably priced resource and, although the presentation is not particularly eye-catching, it does serve the useful purpose of communicating a church’s intent regarding child safeguarding. CCPAS itself is worth a mention as a great starting point for any church who has not yet formalised its child protection policy. They provide guidance and help for churches, as well as excellent training for church workers and are well worth checking out.
