THE PROPHETS SPEAK OF HIM
By Anthony Selvaggio.
Evangelical Press. 208 pages. £8.95
ISBN 978-0-85234-612-9
The genius of this publication is in the way Mr. Selvaggio clearly establishes in his introduction the present day relevance of each of the Minor Prophets and, as the title suggests, how each book speaks about Christ.
He very ably sets the historical scene with useful background information and then instructs us how best to interpret the message of the prophets today.
There is a chapter for each of 12 books in the Minor Prophets, again each with its own gripping, short, but relevant introduction, taken either from a present day experience or a well-known historical incident. This tunes the mind to discover how the Prophets’ message is applicable in today's society, and how Christ is central in all biblical thinking. The theme is then developed as he comments on the main topic in each book.
Every chapter concludes with four or five questions for discussion, which makes the book a very useful tool for group Bible studies, or sharpens the reader’s mind to ensure you have grasped the theme. If you have never understood the relevance of the Minor Prophets, here's your opportunity to understand their importance. You will not regret the money spent or the time taken reading this book.
I commend this work as a valuable and important addition to the Emmaus series, and know that all who read it will be edified.
