For anyone new to the complex matter of the land of Israel from a biblical perspective this book is a useful introduction.
The author discusses Zionism, Dispensationalism, principles of interpretation of prophecy, Replacement Theology, God’s covenant promise to Abraham, and several other themes in connection with the land of Israel.
Obviously, in a book of this size these matters can be dealt with only briefly, but the argument is cogent nevertheless. The author has read widely on the subject and has listed his references as endnotes. There is also a comprehensive reading list and a Scripture index. In the initial printing of the book the contents page was inadvertently omitted, but this is no great loss in such a brief book as there are no chapter numbers, only subject headings in bold type. The book aims to present a balanced view of the claims of Israel today and in doing so courteously refutes the view that threatens Christians with destruction unless they support modern Zionism. He is emphatically not anti-Semitic, but sees the blessing and fulfilment of the true Israel’s destiny in Christ, within the redeemed people of God. It is to be hoped that all with strong views on Israel will take the trouble to read it, but all Christians would profit from it.
