‘The hope of a pure heart starts at the cross’, declares Graham Kendrick at the beginning of this compilation of songs, Scriptures and prayers on the theme of holiness.

The album arose from CARE’s 2005 ‘Searching for Intimacy’ tour at which Graham Kendrick led the worship incorporating several new songs composed especially for the tour and now recorded for the first time on this CD. Hearing the album has confirmed my impression at the conference that the song ‘I’ve come to wash my soul’ is yet another Kendrick classic and destined to become a powerful channel of repentance and rededication for many who hear it over coming years. Being one of the speakers on the tour, however, I am aware that I may be biased!

The Scripture readings and prayers which accompany the songs are well-chosen and lead on a coherent journey of recognition, repentance, rest, reliance, rejection, resolution, renewal and replacement (could they have been chosen by a preacher by any chance?). A great stimulus and aid to Scripture memorisation too.

Great devotional listening for Lent and a touch from heaven for any time of the year.
