The author of this well-written little book is concerned about the recent (and present) lack of Bible reading, particularly in church services.
He begins by looking at the public reading of the Scriptures in the Old and New Testaments, then rapidly moves on to the 21st century and explains new ways of ‘rightly dividing the Word of Truth’. He flags up many problems, but suggests practical answers. He warns, for instance, of the danger of not teaching the Bible words to children and young people, and the value of memorising Scripture, in case one day we are forbidden to publicly read the Scriptures.
‘Teach me to love Thy sacred Word and view my Saviour there’ (Anne Steele) is his heartfelt prayer.
