JC2000, the Millennium arts festival for schools, will culminate in a spectacular multimedia show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on June 23, and churches are being encouraged to give it their support.
More than 18,000 schools have taken part in JC2000, which uses the arts to apply the words and actions of Jesus to the issues facing their families and communities today.
There have been hundreds of local festivals all over the UK, and regional and national festivals at prestigious venues during March and April. The Royal Albert Hall Festival will present talented young people from throughout the UK in an exciting and vibrant performance of music, dance and drama as well as a display of exceptional art work. Some of the art will be on view at St. Paul's Cathedral from June 22 to July 2.
Great night out!
JC2000 is encouraging Christians to come to the show and bring other people from their churches and local communities. Karen Underwood, JC2000's creative arts director, said: 'The finale is designed to be comparable to a West end show, giving the audience a wonderful and memorable night out. As well as being entertaining, however, it will also offer a strong, but non-confrontational presentation of Jesus's life and work. It will be easy to watch and understand. The final selection of art work is awe-inspiring and should not be missed.'
'It would make an excellent outing for a local school, for elderly people from a day care centre, or wherever churches are reaching out into their communities, added Karen. 'It might also make a good introduction to potential members of an evangelistic course, and it is, of course, ideal for groups within the church'.
Moving stories
The show will represent different types of schools from across the UK, with presentations from across the arts. Many of these schools have moving and inspiriting stories about their involvement in JC2000.
