THE ULTIMATE CHRISTIAN LIBRARY DVD

Currently on offer for US$ 199.95
Christian books are increasingly appearing in digital format for viewing on computer. This is particularly valuable for reference works which can be made available much more cheaply and in more compact form than hard copies. There is also the advantage of being able to use the computer to search single or multiple volumes. So now we can buy IVP Dictionaries all on one CD, some commentary series have appeared in this form, and it is very useful to have a library of theological journals on disk at reasonable cost.
Perhaps the most remarkable product is The Ultimate Christian Library, including 3GB of data on one DVD, from Ages Software. It is difficult to know where to begin in describing the contents, but starting with the collected writings there are the works of John Owen (including his 16 volumes and Commentary on Hebrews), Jonathan Edwards (much easier to read than the tiny print of my Banner edition), John Bunyan, the Early Church Fathers, John Gill and Arthur Pink. C.H. Spurgeon is also on the disk, including his sermons, Treasury of David and other works. Moving on to commentaries, there is Calvin's Commentary on the Bible (and also his Institutes, of course - both Beveridge and Battles editions), and the valuable OT set by Keil and Delitzsch, also Barnes' Notes, Matthew Henry, JFB, etc. In history there is Schaff's History of the Christian Church, Wylie's History of Protestantism, and a wealth of other materials. I could go on to mention the sections on Theology, and Inspiration, but the list would be too long for a brief review. Go to the website and look for yourself.
The software uses Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is freely available on the internet. Indices are included so that the volumes can be easily searched (either individually or in multiple sets) using the advanced search options which come with the full download of Acrobat Reader.
At current exchange rates, the current offer is only a little over £100, so this offer should not be missed. We are indebted to Ages Software for making such a treasure trove of materials so easily accessible at such reasonable cost.
