Day One publishers are to be congratulated for this series of pocket-sized 'Travel With' guides. Designed for those visiting places associated with Christians of the past, they provide all the information required for such journeys. Here is the very thing to make a holiday or a church outing interesting and profitable.
This guide, written by Philip H. Eveson, the Principal of the London Theological Seminary, traces the life and ministry of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. The fascinating commentary in itself would compensate for anyone unable to go on the sight-seeing tour, if they had the guide to hand.
Much better, however, to see the locations where 'the Doctor' was born, brought up, went to school, trained and ministered. The guide gives something of the religious and social background of the period through which he lived, and is sprinkled with little-known details and anecdotes which nosy people are sure to enjoy.
And if you did not know that this great 20th-century preacher once helped to deliver milk on his father's Westminster milk-round, here is your opportunity to follow in his tracks. For some of us he was the greatest man we have ever been privileged to know, but we have to say that it is God who makes men great. And in following the footsteps of this servant of God we are impressed by a sense of an overruling divine providence.
Helpful travel details are given throughout the book, which is beautifully produced with plentiful photographs and illustrations.
