This is a book worth having! The reviewer has taken a number of parties around the sections of the British Museum covered by this book and I can confirm that this is a valuable guide. In fact, the BM has agreed to sell it in their bookshop.
The guide directs you round the relevant rooms to identify archaeological items that clarify or illustrate the Bible text. It is generously illustrated with colour figures, tables and maps. It is readable as a book in its own right, but it is most helpful in planning and then in visiting the museum.
The authors give some general background information on the museum for those who have not been there. As they rightly say, to cover the contents of the book requires more than a day. It can be a tiring experience and the trip should be planned in advance. Ideally, use someone who has previously covered the tour and so can point out the relevant things immediately.
No doubt the experienced visitor will want to suggest other items of interest, but they will be hard put to find anything omitted from this guide. So, get it and use it; you will be excited by the treasures it reveals.
