Christ is Risen - So What?

Christ is Risen! - So What?
By Michael Green
Sovereign World. 96 pages. £4.99
ISBN 1 85240 175 3

'If he (Christ) is risen, then you need look no further.' So says Michael Green in this presentation of the resurrection. Aiming for Christians, waverers and sceptics alike, the author seeks to show what an extraordinary event the resurrection of Jesus Christ is; if it really happened, then this is a life-changing truth - for all!
He begins by investigating the historicity of the Gospels' accounts, and then moves to its implications for modern man on his religious quest. The book treats the resurrection from every conceivable angle, with numerous Bible references and quotations from figures throughout history. Green packs an awful lot into his 96 pages. Through a flurry of verses quoted - and a lot of theological vocabulary used - we are shown what Jesus' resurrection means for us, and a model prayer is provided for the persuaded seeker.
Though there is rather too much said in such a short space, this is undoubtedly an excellent read for Christians, and a book I would happily put into the hands of unconverted friends. Green takes us through the issues with a lively style and a great passion for the truths to be found in the search. Definitely a great book for a preacher to use.
This book was first published as The Day Death Died (IVP, 1982) and then The Dawn of the New Age (Daybreak, Darton, Longman and Todd, 1993).
