A Book for Family Worship has 52 chapters, each starting with a Bible verse and a passage of Scripture to read, and ending with points for discussion, points to guide family prayer, and another verse of Scripture for meditation.
The bulk of each chapter applies its theme with a relevant well-presented and thought-provoking anecdote. Although each chapter is quite short (three or four pages of large print, including line drawings), other verses of Scripture are also referred to, so one might need to choose which points to discuss in any one session.
What I especially liked is the way the author moves with ease between application to Christians, non-Christians and those unsure of their position. He does not assume that any children have no interest at all in the gospel, but encourages what interest there is, as well as challenging them and showing the desirability and availability of salvation.
Even if you read systematically through a book of the Bible with your children, perhaps making use of Bible notes or a children's story Bible, here is something which, used once a week for a year, could help you draw your children to the Saviour. Some who are tired and finding it difficult to get stuck into reading Notes or Christian books might well find such a book stimulating and refreshing, whether with other family members or on their own.
