The Easneye Lectures are delivered annually at All Nations Christian College. This book contains the substance of Martin Goldsmith's lecture series in 1998.
Mr. Goldsmith believes a study of Jesus and his relationships is important to us because of the post-modern emphasis on relationships in an age of reaction against impersonal structures, and because theology has traditionally been rooted in mission, in the actual needs of people.
The book looks at the Lord Jesus's relationships within the Trinity, with his followers, with his opponents, and, in the fourth chapter, with Jews, Samaritans and Gentiles. These four chapters plus the introduction take up the 99 pages of the book. So, it's a slim volume but far from lightweight.
The author seems to have poured a lifetime of study and reflection into a small receptacle. There are some wonderful over-views of biblical themes and some of his insights into biblical interpretation are absolute gems. He seeks to apply the lessons observed in the relationships of Jesus to our contemporary church culture and particularly our mission to a lost world.
