Travelling Homeward - Exodus Simply Explained
TRAVELLING HOMEWARD:
Exodus simply explained
By Michael Bentley
Evangelical Press. 352 pages

This is a worthy addition to the Welwyn Commentary series. The book meets its aim to explain 'simply' the book of Exodus without ever (as so often with 'simple' explanations) descending to the banal and simplistic.
Well researched, Bentley's book is particularly effective in providing relevant background information and helpful illustrations to draw out the significance of the text. Throughout, the author seeks to determine the underlying principle of each passage expounded, and to draw out the contemporary meaning within a 'Christological' interpretative framework.
The passion for application and making the message of Exodus relevant to the life of the believer today is everywhere apparent. Obviously the author has preached the book before he has written about it, and this gives it applied 'edge'. This book is a must for those seeking guidance on how to encounter God for themselves in the text of Exodus.
